พระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวจึงได้มีการโปรดเกล้าโปรดกระหม่อจากแบบอย่างปฏิทินเดิมให้แปลงเป็นปฏิทินสุริยคติ มีแบบอย่าง
การใช้มีความทันสมัยลักษณะสากลตามปฏิทินเกเกลื่อนกลาดอเรียน ในที่สุดจึงมีการทำการพิมพ์ปฏิทินตั้งโต๊ะขึ้นเพื่อใช้งานนั้นเอง
