หลักการเเละเหตุผล

       การจัดจ้างงานบริการจากภายนอก (Outsource) หมายถึงผู้มีส่วนร่วมภายนอก หรือเรียกอีกชื่อว่า Third-party (3 Provider Logistics: 3PL) หรือบุคคลที่สามซึ่งเป็นผู้ชำนาญในด้านการปฏิบัติงานซึ่งจะเป็นผู้ให้บริการแทนบริษัทของเราในกรณีใดที่เราไม่สามารถให้บริการเองได้ เช่น การปฏิบัติงานด้านขนส่งหรือกระจายสินค้า เนื่องจากสามารถที่รถขนส่งมีไม่เพียงพอ หรือไม่ต้องลงทุนเพิ่มในการซื้อรถขนส่ง การจัดเก็บสินค้าโดยไม่จำเป็นต้องมีคลังสินค้าเป็นของตนเอง การผลิตที่ไม่จำเป็นต้องมีโรงงานผลิต เป็นต้น ซึ่งประโยชน์ของการใช้บริการจากภายนอกมีมากมาย เช่น ลดต้นทุนคงที่ได้ เช่น ค่าซ่อมบำรุงเครื่องจักร, ค่าจ้างพนักงาน, ค่าพลังงานและน้ำมันเชื่อเพลิง, ต้นทุนเช่าพื้นที่คลังสินค้าหรือโรงงานผลิต และสามารถใช้ประโยชน์จากเทคโนโลยีของผู้ให้บริการได้ เช่น ระบบติดตามรถขนส่ง, ระบบเลือกเส้นทางการขนส่งที่ประหยัด ระบบการผลิตที่มีคุณภาพมากขึ้น รวมถึงสามารถได้ข้อมูลการปฏิบัติงานที่ครบถ้วนและถูกต้องจากผู้ให้บริการเพื่อการวิเคราะห์และตัดสินใจการปฏิบัติงานต่าง ๆ และการใช้ทรัพยากรที่มีความยืดหยุ่นสูง สามารถใช้ทรัพยากรทั้งหมดได้ตามความเหมาะสมมากขึ้นจากผู้ให้บริการภายนอกที่เชี่ยวชาญ ที่สำคัญคือสามารถเพิ่มศักยภาพและผลผลิตในด้านการปฏิบัติงานได้มากขึ้นด้วยต้นทุนที่ต่ำอย่างเหมาะสม

      โดยในปัจจุบันการจัดจ้างงานบริการด้านต่าง ๆ จากภายนอกนั้นเป็นที่นิยมกันมาก และได้รับการส่งเสริมจากทั้งภาครัฐฯ และเอกชน เนื่องจากผู้ปฏิบัติงานไม่จำเป็นต้องปฏิบัติงานเองทั้งหมดโดยขาดความชำนาญและต้นทุนที่เพียงพอ และเป็นการขยายและสร้างงานให้กว้างขวางมากขึ้นได้ รวมถึงความยืดหยุ่นในการปฏิบัติงาน และการลงทุนที่ต่ำอย่างเหมาะสม
